Think You Can Belly Dance? Judging and Scoring
TECHNIQUE - 5pts
- Hip articulation
- Footwork and traveling
- Fluidity and grace of torso and arms
- Isolations
- Dancer demonstrates movement that visually represents choice of music
- Dancer is able to convey emotion appropriate to music through facial expression and gestures
- Dancer responds appropriately to tempo/time signature changes in music
- Entrance and exit in character
- Stage presence--ability to project personality and mood to audience
COSTUMING - 5pts - Costume fit and appearance is appropriate to style of dance and is becoming to the dancer.
- Grooming (hair, makeup)
BONUS POINTS - 1 to 10 points to be used in the event of a tie.
AUDIENCE VOTE (40 POINTS-Full point value given to the contestant with the highest number of audience votes, with incrementally less points given to each contestant thereafter based on placement)
First Place = 40 points
Second Place = 37 points
Third Place = 34 points
....etc.
TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE: 100
The 6 contestants on Friday with the highest total point value will proceed to the final round on Saturday. In the event of a tie, Producer has the right to add a 7th contestant to the final round.
The 3 contestants on Saturday with the highest cumulative total point value will be awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively. In the event of a tie, any bonus points awared by the judges will be added to the total to determine the winner.
