The Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival (LVBDI), to be held on September 9th-10th, 2010, at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino & the Clark County Library Theater is an event which celebrates the art and beauty of belly dancing. This local 4- day extravaganza includes workshops, entertainment, shopping, celebrity luncheons and festival performances.   This event started as a small local belly dance get-together and has evolved into an event that attracts visitors from all over the globe.

The 2010 Headliners include Moria Chappell of the Bellydance Superstars, Fahtiem, Aradia of Las Vegas, John Compton of Habbi Ru, Asharah, Tanya Lemani of Star Trek, Armando Mafufo, and Princess Farhana.

New to the LVBDI this year is a special “Think You Can Belly Dance?” Contest.  This contest is open to anyone who is brave enough to enter and will be an elimination process over the course of the 4 days culminating with a solo performance by the winner at the Sunday night “It’s a Wrap” Cocktail Party & Show.   Our choreography team includes Cera Byer of San Fransisco and Ashtalea of Las Vegas.

Arabic drumming classes are also a new addition and enhance the event by including more live music.  World-renowned percussionist, Armando “Uncle” Mafufo headlines these classes and will be teaching workshops for drummers & dancers.

Tanya Lemani, belly dance pop icon, will be speaking at the Friday Lunch & Lecture about her experiences as a belly dancer on the original Star Trek Television Season 2 episode "A Wolf in the Fold."

Although this dance originates in the Middle East, its popularity in the United States has caused a dance evolution resulting in tremendous diversity of styles and interpretations.  The 2010 Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive strives to embrace this remarkable dance culture and to support the local Las Vegas belly dance community.
