The Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive, to be held on September 9th-10th, 2010, is an event which celebrates the exotic art and beauty of belly dancing. This local extravaganza includes 4 full days of workshops, 3 full evenings of entertainment, and features some of the top belly dance artists in the country as well as many talented local dancers and teachers.  This event started as a small get-together that was organized by a local dancer and has now blossomed into an event that is attracting visitors from all over the world.

Thursday & Friday feature workshops with the world-renowned John Compton, Aradia of LV, Moria Chappell, and Princess Farhana.  These workshops will be followed by an amazing array of professional belly dancers performing in the evening production "A Night in the City of Riches".  This theater production will take place at the Clark County Flamingo Library Theater from 7-9pm, Sept. 11th and will culminate with performances from our 2010 headliners!!

Saturday & Sunday boasts 5 full level-specific dance tracks with over 38 topics to choose from, including workshops taught by 40 instructors.  The workshops are designed to meet the needs of belly dance students of all levels while encompassing a broad spectrum of topics.

The Saturday night Vegas-Style Gala, "Viva RAKS Vegas" is a bit more raucous and will feature many of our top level visiting instructors and troupes.  This show will also be held at the Clark County Flamingo Library Theater.

Shopping is available from local and out-of-state vendors throughout the weekend and is open to the public free-of-charge.   There is also a festival stage that will feature many up and coming artists.

Although this dance originates in the Middle East, its popularity in the United States has caused a dance evolution resulting in tremendous diversity of styles and interpretations.  The 2010 Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive strives to embrace this remarkable dance culture and to support the local Las Vegas belly dance community.

--Leyla Amir; Las Vegas, NV "It is important to choose music and costumes that reflect the style of dancing you have chosen for your performance. It is off balance to say you are dancing "Egyptian" then perform to Greek music, as the music will inhibit your ability to give a good reflection of the music to the dance. The same can ...
